Health transitions and inequalities from 2011 to 2021

This project will investigate health inequalities and transitions in Northern Ireland.

The first main aim is to characterize the distribution of health status across the population in 2021, e.g. by population sub-group such as sex, single parent status, economic status, age group, and household tenure, among other characteristics, and to evaluate any changes since 2011.

The second main aim is to estimate individual-level health transitions between 2011 and 2021, with a focus on inequalities by population subgroup. For example, to identify whether certain groups experienced a reduction or improvement in health between censuses.

This project will help inform policymakers about how health status varies across the population and identify which factors predict changes in health through time. This will help identify populations with the greatest need, informing the decision about where to optimally target resources or interventions.
